dear all,
i have a nice new 5D mkII ...  Tongue
despite a few niggles (which Canon sorted brilliantly), I am so impressed, I'd like another !

... but only if i can sell both my 5D and 1Ds mkII.

so, if you're interested in either, please drop me a pm, and once i have  victims for both camera bodies, i will let them go for a negotiated price.

thank you very much.
kind regards,
david

Hi David

I know this has nothing to do with what you're selling but what sort of niggles were you having with your
5d mk11.  Just experienced something with mine the other day and it's 12 months warranty is up next month.

many thanks

hold on mate... go to jeff ascough blog & look at the new 1d mk4   he states better than the 5dmk2 files. wait & trade your two bodies in against the 1dmk4  he's given a good down to earth report based on a recent wedding.

he's ordered 2 on the basis of this one shoot...

hi andy ... part of the letter script to canon uk below:

I was most disappointed to find:
a)   the ‘half shutter pressure’ focus lock will not pick up/work, approximately 10% of the time. I have to shoot the frame (without focus) and hope the next time will focus lock as normal.
b)   despite the rear screen review time being set for 4 seconds, sometimes I just have a split second flash of the image on the screen.
c)   the file numbering sequence is ‘all to cock’.
I have ten existing sandisk 4G flash cards that have served me well, so far.
The first card goes in the 5DII, is formatted in camera, and gave me files numbered 0001-0041 … so far, so good, I thought.
The second card, duly formatted, recorded files 0117-0297.
The third, 3970-4124.
The fourth, 4131-4282.
Fifth, 4125-4571,
…. and then fairly regularly up to the 17th card, and finishing on image file number 5711.
As a result of this, I have lost the images from three important cards as some cards have had duplicated numbers.
When I bought the 5DII the kind people at Canon didn’t tell me I needed to buy Photoshop’s CS4 before I could even see the images ....

they have replaced the camera top, reloaded the firmware, and now all seems well.
hope this helps ....  partybeer  d

hi andy,

£4,500 for the mkIV
£1,800 for the mkII
 2,700 beer tokens

the 1Ds is a fabulous camera andy, but i find the 5D II so much easier and lighter to use, moreso as my workload has switched from mainly motorsport to mostly social.
nowadays, i''m shooting almost everything in manual mode, therefore all i need is a lightproof box with a good, full frame sensor ... the mkII excels with these elements.
plus, it would be nice to have identical bodies in the camera bag, at say a wedding ... no more switching the mindset from the 1D controls, functions and switches, to those of the 5D .... speed is everything when you're under pressure (nice pressure, though).

just seems to be the most sensible thing to do.

many thanks and kindest regards,
david

Hi Dave

Appreciate that.  I have had a similar problem with the viewing screen flicking off,
and an odd occasion when the small dial decided to stop working.

Thanks again
