Just read this

http://www.facebook.com/#!/note.php?note_id=434790264080&id=17726109785

It infuriated me and made me laugh at the same time.

Angry Infurated - because as a tog I create copyrighted material and can't stand the idea people (man on the street or huge company) thinking they can just take it or make profit from it

laugh Laugh - because as usual for Clarkson (and his people) it is a peice written to amuse and entertain and it did just that

So, this is a topic that's not entirely off-topic!!!

Just like Dr Who, The Stig has left the body of his last host - and will be reborn in another unknown driver....

Perhaps Rubins Barachello...?!

The identity of the Stig is the worst kept secret ever!  I have known the current one for well over a year and most people I know, know as well.  It's a complete waste of time, he has broken his contract, kick him out, get a new one and wait for the identity of that one to get out.  I'll not name him in case anyone doesn't want to know but it has been freely available on line for yonks!

These things will always leak out, and for those who want to spoil it they will find out.

I personaly enjoy the mystery and the character they have created.

This autobiograph yby Ben Collins is an interestnig one.  Unless he had been the stig I doubt a publisher would have touched him with a barge pole so his entire autobiography is being promoted on the back of a character owned by the BBC - will he or Harper Collins (the publisher) have to compensate the BBC for use of the name and character?

he signed a contract and confidentiality agreement. Now we can't see how that is worded but I'm guessing the BBC used a lawyer to write this so it could be pretty water tight - so now I'm wondering - will the BBC sue for breach of contract?

Personally, I don't want to know who the current stig is or who it has been in the past. It is a bit of harmless fun for the programme makers and the people who watch it.

My boys are both petrol-heads due to Top Gear and both of them love the stig and his air of mystery. We've teased them that the stig could be female too, and I hope that at some point one stig will be (just to really annoy the people who put-down women drivers - wouldn't that be a nice secret to slip out to the public?!). It is a very mild secret and as noted, if you wanted to find out, it wouldn't be at all difficult; especially in the current world of the internet.

A harmless "secret" which isn't really one if you're really interested in knowing. Roll on many more stigs who will be discrete in the future

Just realised that the above might appear that I'm at all knocking female drivers. I'm not. I've long said that the worst drivers on the road are definitely male. The amount of idiot driving I've seen has almost all been by male drivers and that is why I always question anyone who puts down female drivers
