There’s a beautiful poem by lyricist and writer Fran Landesman entitled simply, Photographs. This work is one of her most famous perhaps due to the Prudential finance company using it in their TV campaigns in the UK a few years back. In Photographs, Landesman portrays with pin sharp emotional impact the importance of visual memories and states in the works closing three lines:

“If you ever find my house on fire
Leave the silver
Save the photographs”

David, thanks for the links.

I've always said "save the photographs" too. Nowadays most of them are on an offsite backup...
