Hi All

I am sort of interested in buying a canon L Series 28-300mm lens, if any one is selling one at a reasonable price I would be interested in what you have to offer.

If you have one please let me know date code in the email about price, condition etc, this is located under camera end lens cap, normally starting with a Uxxxxxxx

Many thanks

Steve

Hi Steve

MPB Photographic have listed one in stock today.  Used, but from experience accurate descriptions of condition. Additionally they give a warranty as well.  £1449.

Hope that helps.

Cheers.

P.S. I'm not on commission, just a previously satisfied customer.

Hi Steve.  I coveted one of these for ages - sort of one size fits all for minimal kit on holidays.  I decided to try before I bought one and found the one I rented from Fixation to be really soft and no discernible difference between that and the Sigma 28-300 I already had (apart from it being three times the weight and slightly faster focussing).  I knew of one other person who owned one and he sold his two years ago for the same reason.  From Canon's impressive arsenal of L glass, this one tends to get the bad press, but I'd be interested if anyone else shares this view.

I did ask and you responded my love.  Therefore there's no need for an apology and you have confirmed what I already thought.  NIce to hear it from such a qualitative and respected source.

Not sure where you're based Stephen but I have both a Sigma and a Tamron 28-300 Canon fit and if you're nearby, you're welcome to borrow one or the other to give them a try.  The Tamron's actually already on loan until the end of the month, but I wont need the Sigma until October when I'm going to the Atlas Mountains with Sian for her 50th.

Planning on selling some stock images this year Dave.  Sail Amsterdam in 2 weeks then Marrakesh in October after all the weddings.  Taking the full shooting kit to the Netherlands, but the Sigma will be the sole lens to North Africa as it involves lots of carrying stuff up mountains. If I can get my backside in gear and my two lovely cooperative mates who do image key wording and finding images for agencies for a living, I'll hopefully generate enough beer tokens to do more than just attend the Masterclasses.  Sorry for drifting off thread here Stephen.

A 10x zoom is going to have optical compromises. I would avoid!
