Didn't catch the name of the company and REALLY want to know so I can make a complaint against the snitty little sod who just harrassed me for the last 5 minutes - he kept mentioning an old ad I had on city visitor so wondering if there's a common spiel from the company using this!

Hi Matt, tried that - number withheld unfortunately!  To be honest, I get a LOT of these and its usually water off a ducks back as I tell them from the outset I won't pay them for any form of advertising but this little git really got my goat as he even phoned me back when I got to the point where politely telling him I wasn't interested wasn't working so I resorted to hanging up!  Anyway, asked to be put through to a manager and he wouldn't, nor would he then tell me which company he worked for at which point I told him that he'd better stop harrassing me then and he hung up! LOL!!

How on earth do these people think that they are ever going to sell you something once they get past "I'm not interested" and start telling you you're stupid - oh right then, that makes all the difference, where do I sign???  Roll Eyes

Thats the reason I took my numbers off my SWPP profile sadly. I got tired of all the cold calling. Telephone preference service put most of them off, but the less honest ones like your friend here dont care.

They even started pretended like they were enquiring after a while of not getting anywhere with me.

Can you make a complaint to your phone company about the call?

If you use Google Adwords quite a lot of these guys use that to identify targets.  Not only do they use one of your "clicks" they then use the fact that you are paying for targetted advertising as a reason to urm, pay them for non-targetted advertising.

I use Google adwords, but tend not to show adds during the working day.  Seems a bit odd?  Not really - "most" potential clients will look for 'togs during lunch, in the evening or on the weekend.  Most little g!t SEO firms will happily click away during the working day.....

I simply don't speak to them.  Finitto.  If I'm feeling really generous, I leave the phone on the table and go for break.

hmmm, I wonder if I could make a complaint via my own company - do they have records of who's called in?

To be honest, I don't usually get into slanging matches with them but this one just wouldn't leave me alone!  think I might try the phone on the desk thing next time though Grin

It is a bizarre selling technique when you think about it.
Be a snotty-nosed, obnoxious, condesending, patronising, aggressive little sh*t right from the first second, imply that the customer is so stupid they are a danger to themselves and others with a knife and fork in their hands and then expect that same person to happily sign on the dotted line. Huh? Huh?
Must try it myself some time. Grin Grin

I had a call from a mobile phone company years ago and I asked to be put through to the manager, obviously it was some little oik, who responded when asked the questions where did you get my number from, replies "from a porn ad" and hung up, now don't laugh laugh, but at the time I was not a happy bunny (not bunny girl).  The number was witheld so I called my mobile firm who said the call could be traced and they would deal with it.  It is worth giving your phone company a call.
