If they are printed on Blurb you could go and buy them surely? Or at least Colin will still have the template and layouts?

Ditto above - I'd also like to by a copy; a run of 100 seems a bit short-sighted or did you only sell that many last year?

In case you were wondering why I hadn't bought one before now it's because I didn't know one existed (although I must admit I couldn't make the Convention this year).

OK I have my book.  It doesn't tell me who the runners up were, it doesn't even tell me who the winners were.

Is anybody actually going to respond to this?  There was an earlier post to say the results were on a laptop somewhere and that they would be posted ASAP.  What is all the secrecy about?

With regard to the book I am deeply disappointed.  I have paid far less for much better quality books.  The book is damaged for a start and has marks all over the front cover.  It is really poorly presented, for a society representing image makers I would have thought greater attention would be paid to the design, the font used is huge and distracts from the images.  There are some stunning images in the book and it could have been so much better.  Really, really disappointed and feeling ever so slightly ripped off.

Buy the book to find out the results?  I don't think so.

Thank you for responding so quickly and apologies if I misinterpreted your response.

The question was posted earlier (sorry I don't know how to post quotes)

Question:  Where do you see the runners up Colin?

Answer:  In the Collection Book

I bought the book so I could find out.

Perhaps if you could just answer the following question it would clear the matter up for me.

Who were the runners up in the 2009 competition?

Yours in hope

there were no 2nd,3rd places awarded.

the way the final judging works is that the judges all score using an electronic scoring system, they each have a keypad and they enter a score out of 100. the scoring system calculates the average and all images with a high average score are entered into the Collection book and it is out of these images that a winner is chosen.

Thank you Terrie.  That was very helpful.

From what you are saying all the images in the book are either winners or runners up?

Ally

yes all the images in the book got to the final stage of the judging process, from that group of images a winner was chosen.

for example if there are 5 images from one category then it was those images that scored a higher average then the rest and then the winner was chosen from those 5 images.

i hope this explains things better, sometimes a simple phone call to our office can clear up these issues quicker.

My book arrived today,  no marks on the cover like Ally's but there are spelling mistakes on interior pages - 'Wedding Tractional' beneath one image and 'monochrome' beneath another colour image.  Some of the images printed within the cover are indeed stunning, but worth £22.50, no!

I am disappointed, why?  If I were to send a book that had not been adequately proof-read and included mistakes to a client, I'd be out of pocket as I'd need to replace it and would appear unprofessional!   I know we all make mistakes, but come on SWPP, you provide excellent education tutorials, I enjoy the monthly competitions and forum, but is this really acceptable?

Thanks Terrie - I didn't get the email though. You're not the first who has said they've sent me email and I've not got it - think I have a glitchy account... GGRRRR! No big deal though, I'll drop you a line tomorrow. Thanks again.
